I happen to own a 78 international Scout II and after searching high and low for a mechanic who had any idea how to service my new toy, I discovered Karol's. John was not only informative and knowledgeable about my truck- his family has been working on them for 2 generations. All back story aside I was assured I was in the right hands for a very reasonable price. Often times when you have a special kind of truck- you get an extra special price and I was pleasantly surprised that this wasn't the case.

John illuminated the previous mistakes that other mechanics had made and finished everything on time and to my liking. He also gave me a lot of feedback on what was done and what to plan for in the future. I don't contribute to Yelp that often but in this case I felt compelled. There was even a moment where after test driving the truck it wasn't as "perfect" as John would like so he sent the part back to the shop and rebuilt it to his own specs without charging me. You can't find that kind of attention to detail these days. I highly recommend this business to anyone who is looking for an ethical mechanic.

I'm so grateful to have found these guys. When I first moved to the area they let me borrow a tool in order to finish a project; I was in a panic since I was only one bolt away from having a functioning seat belt again. Since that act of kindness, I am now a loyal patron. John is genuinely friendly, extremely knowledgable. and their prices are fair. What is not to like!

Last Friday my car was losing power on the 5 and I was lucky enough to pull off the freeway. My friend recommended Karol's, which was nearby. They are his mechanics and he has a Jetta from the 90's that still runs, I figured I would take a chance.

I am not disappointed. Jon and Don were incredibly helpful, and didn't roll their eyes when I suggested that it might be the clutch. After they looked over the car Jon called me up and said "You were right, it's the clutch." He quoted me a reasonable price and the car is running great. When I was picking it up he re-assured me that "mine wasn't the worst clutch they fixed that week."

These guys are great, reasonably priced, and courteous. I highly recommend.

Don and John have been taking care of my car for over 12 years. Even though it is an 1988 they treat it like it's right off the dealer lot. I've dropped it off after hours and the next morning they've already taken a look at it and told me what to expect (price and timing). Friends have taken their cars based on my comments and had nothing but great experiences. They tell you the truth and do a great job.

Just picked up my car after tearing a belt. They took care of it, no problems and no up selling EVER!

Took my '78 Scout over to John today - and they had it fixed up faster than I thought possible. Not only that, everyone there was friendly, incredibly knowledgeable and generally wonderful. Definitely there to help - not to do slapdash work or gouge you.
